Hambledon x Luke Holder

Fire Feast

Outdoor cooking in the vines

Hambledon x Luke Holder

The smell of woodsmoke drifts down the vines, beckoning you to your seat at the long tables on the lawn of Mill Down House. Under the dappled shadow of trees basking in the July sunlight, animated conversations are punctuated with the pop of corks. It’s time to make yourself at home and savour the menu to come.

On 11th July, we’ll be joined by Luke Holder, renowned Chef-Director of Hartnett, Holder & Co at Lime Wood Hotel, who, alongside our own Head Chef, Rob McLeary, will serve up a five-course tasting menu in the place where our story began.

Saturday 11th July | From 2:30pm

Upon communal tables, guests will be treated to a culinary journey inspired by Hampshire’s extraordinary local larder, cooked over a crackling wood fire. Accented by Luke’s love for a grounded, informal way of cooking: think HH&Co’s big-hearted dishes, such joyful bowls of pasta, just-caught fish and meats that fall apart at the touch of a fork. It’s food where sharing is encouraged and stealing a forkful is expected; where both the skill of the chef and the quality of the ingredients shine. You’ll enjoy a plethora of dishes, from tantalising nibbles to vibrant mains, accompanied by live music and unmatched views across our Home Vineyard.

For these events we’ve thrown the rule book out the window so get ready to sit next to strangers because these events are all about bringing people together over delicious food and wine and taking the time to savour.

With your tickets, you are welcome to bring a bottle of wine from home (£10 Corkage Fee applies)—a great excuse to open that special bottle. Additional drinks are available to purchase at our bar.

Be our guest at one of this year’s most memorable events. Spaces are limited.

Chef-Director of Hartnett, Holder & Co at Lime Wood Hotel.

Luke has worked in some of London’s busiest and most exclusive kitchens, including Orrery, The Sloane Club, and the Oxo Tower on the South Bank. He then spent a year in the Italian kitchen of Enoteca Pinchiorri, a three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Florence, Tuscany - this experience ultimately changed his philosophy on food forever and firmly placed his focus on cooking locally and seasonally, at the highest level.

After working in Thailand, Luke found his way to Lime Wood in the New Forest, where he partnered with the equally renowned Angela Hartnett to create Hartnett, Holder & Co. HH&Co is a relaxed, stylish restaurant, known for its unpretentious atmosphere and informal, grounded style of cooking. With both chefs embracing the philosophy behind great Italian food, the seasonal menus centre on locally sourced British ingredients to create distinct variations of Italian classics. An avid supporter of Hampshire produce, Luke utilises the “larder within the forest” with favourites including Tunworth cheese, New Forest asparagus, and wild garlic.

The afternoon will showcase a five-course tasting menu, plus nibbles, curated by Luke Holder and Hambledon's Head Chef, Rob McLeary.

Full menu to be confirmed.
