Where can I stay when visiting your vineyard?

There are plenty of local accommodation options, to extend your visit to Hambledon Vineyard and to the South Downs. Our list is available to download here.

How can I get to the vineyard if I don’t drive?

The closest local railway station is PETERSFIELD.

You can take a train from Waterloo station or Clapham Junction to Portsmouth Harbour and stop at Petersfied (approx. 1hr15). Those trains also usually call at Woking, Guilford or Haslemere. At the station you will find taxis waiting (15mn drive to the vineyard) or you can book in advance one of the taxis that we have listed for you.

You can also fly to Gatwick airport and from there take a taxi.

To return to the station or to the airport, you can call one of the taxi companies we have listed for you or even a Uber. Just ask our teams if you find it difficult, we will do our best to help. We also provide free guest Wi-fi at the vineyard that will help you book online.

 

Can you suggest taxis companies to and from the vineyard?

There are a range of local taxis available for pick-ups and drop-offs to Hambledon Vineyard if you do not wish to drive. This list is available to download here.

We do advise that you book a taxi prior to your visit to Hambledon Vineyard, to ensure availability to pick up from the vineyard at the end of your experience. We advise two hours for Tours & Tastings, and our Cellar Door Dining experience.

Can you provide an update on the progress of the restaurant?

We will soon launch a monthly newsletter specially dedicated to giving our customers and followers some news about the progress and the opening date. Do you host weddings at the vineyard?

Yes, we host a limited number of weddings each year at Hambledon Vineyard. For more information, contact events@hambledonvineyard.co.uk.

 

How to make a weekend or ‘trip’ out of a visit? What’s around and about?

We adore our home here in the South Downs, and there is plenty to do whether you're on a romantic getaway, or enjoying a family break. Some of our favourites include:

  • Hikes & Bike Rides in the South Downs- Butser Hill, the South Downs way trails and the New Forest offer beautiful views and varied terrain, all close to Hambledon Vineyard. Read our article here to see our favourite ways to enjoy the countryside.
  • Visit the historic city of Winchester- only 30mins by car from Hambledon, Winchester is England's ancient capital city and boasts everything from historical landmarks, to boutique shops, and a range of delicious eateries. Read our recommendations here.
  • Family Days out in Portsmouth- the waterfront city offers an amazing array of family activities, from interactive maritime history at the Historic Dockyards, to traditional seaside fun, to retail therapy at Gunwharf Quays.
  • Beach Time at Hayling Island- Head to Hayling Island for some beach fun. Whether you’re into water sports or just want to relax on the sand, it’s a great spot to unwind.

How fast is your wine delivery ?

We use Royal Mail tracked delivery. Once we’ve received your online order, someone in our team will take care of carefully preparing your parcel. It usually happens on the same day, unless we are very, very busy (which can happen, like during Harvest). Then it will take between 3 and 5 days to be delivered to you – but usually much faster than that! If you have any queries, please just give us a quick call +44 (0) 2392 632 358, and we’ll let you know the status of your order!

I live nearby, can I collect my order at the vineyard at no cost?

Yes, please choose ‘Vineyard collection’ when placing the order and give us 24 hours to prepare your order. If it’s very urgent, just write down your order number and give us a call at +44 (0) 2392 632 358 and we will do our very best to assist you.

Has Hambledon Vineyard been sold?

The vineyard was indeed recently acquired by Berry Bros & Rudd, the UK’s oldest fine wine and spirits merchant in its 325th year, and Symington Family Estates, the world’s leading producer of premium port (both Royal Warrant holders) - two of the most highly-respected British-owned family businesses - heralding a bright future for England's most storied vineyard.

What should I wear to visit the vineyard?

We ask all visitors to remember that we're a working vineyard and are subject to the changeable English weather. As such, please check the weather forecast before your visit and dress accordingly- whether this means a raincoat and wellies, or SPF 50. 

Please also note that you may be parts of the vineyard with uneven, slippery or muddy surfaces, so ensure that you wear comfortable footwear.
