Explore behind the scenes at Hambledon Wine Estate

Join us as we go behind the scenes and explore Hambledon's gravity-fed winery and learn the process and considerations that go into making our award-winning sparkling wines. This tour takes place in both our winery and barrel room; the latter is not accessible on our public Tour and Tasting.

Perfect if you'd like a deeper understanding of English wine or are interested in studying Oenology.

The Winery Tour is led by one of our knowledgeable guides and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions. The group size is limited to 10 people.

GUIDED WINERY TOURS:

What To Expect

You’ll start in our gravity-fed Winery, the first to be opened in the UK, where your tour guide will explain the process and considerations that go into making making our award-winning sparkling wines.

Next you’ll head across to Barrel Room, which is not accessible during other public tours. Here, you'll learn how we use oak to enhance the flavour of our wines during ageing.

During your experiences, you’ll have the opportunity to taste samples from both the tank and barrel with your expert guide as you discuss the factors our winemaker Felix Gabillet has to consider during harvest and subsequent wine making. Topics touched upon will include decisions taken at the press as the juice comes off, first fermentation, malolactic conversion, blending and dosage.

Your experience will be rounded off in our new Tasting Room as you're introduced to four sparkling wines from our current Classic and Première selection, which showcase our house-style and incredible terroir.

Fantastic and knowledgeable tour

Really fantastic tour, the lady who did the tour was really informative and knowledgeable. We have visited many vineyards and this was by far the most informative. Would recommend.

One of the best English vineyard tours!

It was one of the best English vineyard tours we had: a complete tour from vineyard to winery, following the viticultural year and winemaking process step by step. Clive explained clearly and passionately not only the work done in Hambledon, but the process, challenges and the wider world of sparkling wines - huge thanks for that! There is a great future to this winery, a visit is highly recommended!

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit

We’ve done several vineyard tours but this was by far the best. Clive, our guide, was so knowledgable and interesting and his love for wine shone through. Our tour lasted over an hour and a half and we were thoroughly entertained by Clive as he took us through the history of the vineyard as well as the sparkling wine making process.

Stunning scenery and stunning wine!

The tour was great and very informative! The tasting was delicious and we opted for an afternoon tea too, which was lovely. They also were able to cater to my allergies which I was really happy with and I didn't have to compromise on taste! We loved it all so much we ended up buying an extra tasting experience and trying the premium wines too!
