Join us amid the vines at our Windmill Down East vineyard for a long, unhurried afternoon of open fire dining unlike anything else in the English countryside.
Upon communal tables, guests will be treated to a culinary journey inspired by Hampshire’s extraordinary local larder, cooked over a crackling wood fire by our talented chefs, the kind of live cooking that fills the air with something you'll smell before you see. For these events we’ve thrown the rule book out the window so get ready to sit next to strangers because these events are all about bringing people together over delicious food and wine and taking the time to savour.
Your ticket includes a welcome glass of Hambledon Classic Cuvée Rosé, the full menu - a feast meant to be lingered over - and the bar will be available so the drinks can flow throughout the afternoon, accompanied by live music and unmatched views across the vines and rolling hills.
These afternoons are all about bringing our guests together, meeting new friends and sharing delicious food and drinks around the table. As such, sharing is key, and we welcome our guests to bring a bottle (£10 corkage, max 1 bottle per person) to open and share with the table during the afternoon.

Event information
Windmill Down East vineyard is situated at the top of the estate, behind the Restaurant. With the marquee on hand in case of British weather, deck chairs on the lawn and views across the vines and rolling hills. Toilets are located just behind the marquee. Signage will be placed directing you to the venue.
Arrive from 2:30pm to enjoy an aperitif and mingle on the lawn, before sitting down at 3:30pm to enjoy your fire-cooked feast. The event will end at approximately 6pm. You're welcome to stay on after the event to enjoy some drinks on the Restaurant Terrace during golden hour.
The afternoon will showcase a feasting menu curated by our Head Chef, Rob McLeary, built to showcase the fantastic produce we have in Hampshire. Think hot smoked chalkstream trout, slow cooked lamb shoulder and smoked ricotta with elderflower foraged from the estate. It’s food where sharing is encouraged and stealing a forkful is expected; where both the skill of the chef and the quality of the ingredients shine. You’ll enjoy a plethora of dishes, from tantalising nibbles to vibrant mains, accompanied by live music and unmatched views across our vineyard.
While we strive to accommodate all dietary preferences and restrictions, please note that due to the nature of our Fire Feast events, we may not be able to fully cater to every individual requirement.
Due to the style of event, guests will be seated at a long communal table. These afternoons are all about bringing our guests together, meeting new friends and sharing delicious food and drinks around the table.
