Spotlight On: Chardonnay
With the majority of the vineyards here at Hambledon Wine Estate planted to Chardonnay, it is fitting that our first “Spotlight On” tasting focuses on the Chardonnay grape.
Forget the ‘Anything But Chardonnay’ mindset; the versatile Chardonnay grape is the world's most widely planted white grape variety for a good reason. Chardonnay is a very neutral grape that makes a very diverse range of wines; this of course makes it such an attractive option for winemakers all over the world.
From the tip of Argentina’s Patagonia to the UK’s Kent coast, winemakers have embraced the grape to make still and sparkling wines which show citrus and green apple character in cool climates and more tropical aromas and flavours in warm climates.
This tasting will look at 8 wines from the international wine world and will feature a range of styles developed through climatic variations and vastly different approaches to viticulture and winemaking.
The “Spotlight On” tastings are suitable for both the novice wine taster and those who are further along on their wine journey. They are designed to be relaxed and informal and are scheduled to be both the perfect antidote to a busy day at work, as an aperitif before dinner or why not enjoy a pre tasting pizza in our courtyard?
Each tasting will be led by a member of our Wine Education team, and they look forward to sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with you. The tastings will last 75-90 minutes.
