Located in the heart of Alsace, Christophe Mittnacht is a family-run estate now led by Yuka and Christophe Mittnacht, representing the third generation to farm these vineyards.
The domaine has become one of the leading biodynamic producers in the region, with a strong emphasis on soil health, biodiversity and precise vineyard work.

Farming across a mosaic of Alsatian terroirs, the estate produces wines with clarity, energy and a strong sense of place, whilst maintaining a long-term commitment to environmentally responsible viticulture and low-intervention winemaking.
The estate currently has eleven hectares of vines, centred around Hunawihr and sheltered by the Vosges Mountains. Importantly, the village lies on 'Muschelkalk'- a shelly limestone, covered by marl-limestone with a high clay content- lending a full-bodied, mineral complexity to the wines.
Why Christophe Mittnacht?

Farming With Nature
Christophe Mittnacht has implemented certified biodynamic farming across the estate, including the use of natural composts and cover crops to improve soil vitality. Above all, vineyard work on the estate is focused on preserving long-term soil health and balance- to craft progressive, expressive Alsace wines.
The More, The Merrier
Diverse vineyard plant life is openly encouraged between rows, paired with careful management of surrounding natural habitats, allowing wildlife to thrive. With a deep respect for nature at the core of their ethos, vineyard practises are designed to support insect and microbial life naturally.
Waste Not, Want Not
Alongside their efforts to support biodiversity in the area, there is a preference for manual vineyard work and sustainable, low-impact vineyard work, which helps to protect the land around them. In the winery, low-intervention cellar practices are key, with a focus on preserving freshness and vineyard expression through gentle winemaking and restrained use of sulphur.
Social Responsibility:
The long-term health of the land is central to their multi-generational family business, and informs their strong commitment to preserving the identity of traditional Alsace vineyards. A transparent and thoughtful farming philosophy built around sustainability and longevity ensures exceptional wines for years to come.
