Building the Perfect Valentine’s Day Hamper
Valentine’s Day has a charming way of appearing before we know it, bringing with it a gentle reminder to pause and celebrate the people we love. While it’s easy to focus on the glitter-coated cards, red roses, and heart-shaped treats, the day has evolved into something much more meaningful.
Increasingly, we’re embracing it as a celebration of love in all its forms- not just romantic love, but self-love, friendship, and those relationships that brighten our everyday lives. Whether it’s taking a moment to treat yourself, spending quality time with friends, or putting in that extra bit of care for a partner, Valentine’s Day has become an invitation to connect.
And with sustainability guiding our choices, we’re focusing on gifting with intention this year. What better way to do that than with a carefully curated hamper- big or small- filled with the favourite things of the people who matter most?
The Little Things
Often, it’s the little things that brighten somebody’s day- from a bar of their favourite chocolate to humorously patterned socks, or their favourite scented candle.
It might even be something they’ve talked about for a while- maybe they need a new purse, or perhaps their favourite scent is running low, it’s the perfect way to show that you care.
Our Cellar Door Shop has plenty of the smaller gifts that really help to make a hamper, from cheese and wine accessories to spirit miniatures. Our favourite addition? A bottle stopper. For the sparkling wine lover in your life, it’s a must-have to keep their favourite bottles fresh for up to five days.
The Gift of Time Well Spent
With today’s busy schedules, sometimes spending time with a loved one is the most thoughtful gift one can give. You could get kitsch and creative with the classic “coupons” for activities to do together- whether it’s a coffee shop date, a countryside walk, or a wine tasting. It’s the offer of their favourite things to do and quality time together, after the Valentine’s Day rush.
Experience vouchers are another great (and less DIY) way to do this- whether it’s for a spa afternoon, a museum visit, or our favourite, a winery tour- it’s a chance for them to enjoy a personalised experience whenever it suits them.
A Sparkling Celebration
One Valentine’s Day non-negotiable for us is a bottle of our favourite sparkling wine. For us, the day always calls for rosé: Classic Cuvée Rosé, for enjoying on its own, as an indulgent treat or with light starters such as smoked trout or prawns. Or, for those feeling a little more gastronomically adventurous, our Premièré Cuvée Rosé is a true showstopper, perfect alongside seasonal game (think guinea fowl) and one of February’s best ingredients: forced rhubarb.
